The holiday season is all year round in this region. There are numerous festivals and holidays, which combined with a weekend and an extra day off can extend to a week long holiday altogether. See table below.
We also recommend you to check out the destination country's holidays, as the long awaited escape may turn out to be a trip to a packed hotel struggling to cope with a large number of guests.

Restaurants in particular may be booked out long in advance and you end up eating sandwiches in your hotel room.
Especially avoid the busy Chinese New Year season.
Around Christmas and New Year short weekend trips are often not available as there is a minimum stay connected to the festive season.
The best travel deals can be bought on the travel fairs held in March/April and September/October each year. Especially airlines position their price promotions around that time.
Cruises from Singapore
A number of cruise ships call on Singapore's port regularly and you can hop on for cruises to Koh Samui, Hoh Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Kuantan, Port Klang, Hong Kong, Phuket, Bombay, Colombo, Tokyo and other destinations. Combine the relaxed travel with sightseeing at destination and fly back.

Eastern and Oriental Express
An unusual way to get from Singapore to Bangkok is a train ride on the famous Eastern and Oriental Express. While you enjoy superb the food the landscape passes by tropical jungle, rubber plantations and rice fields where buffalos laze in the heat. You can stop for a boat excursion on the famous River Kwai or join a tour to visit Georgetown on Malaysia's island Penang.

Fly to Bangkok first for an extensive shopping trip and take the train back: you will not experience any problems with too much luggage on the flight back!

Holidays
Watch out for holiday bridges and Singapore School Holidays as your destination may be crowded and service poor. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is a holiday.
Book accommodation flights and ferry tickets early to avoid disappointment or overbooking.
